Donovan announces Recovery Act's homebuyer tax credit can immediately help thousands of first-time homebuyers to buy a home

WASHINGTON - Speaking to the National Association of Home Builders Spring Board of Directors Meeting, U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan today announced that the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) will allow homebuyers to apply the Obama Administration's new $8,000 first-time homebuyer tax credit toward the purchase costs of a FHA-insured home. HUD Approves $12.7 Million Deal to Renovate 25-Bed Hospital in Washington, Georgia

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development today announced a commitment to insure a mortgage loan to Wills Memorial Hospital in Washington, Georgia to renovate its 25-bed facility. Treasury and HUD announce $419 million in Recovery Act funds to create jobs, provide affordable housing

WASHINGTON - As part of the Obama Administration's effort to create jobs and ease pressures on the housing market, the U.S. Department of the Treasury today announced more than $330 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) funding to spur the development of affordable housing units in Kansas, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Puerto Rico. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) also announced $83 million for housing development in Ohio. The announcements come just three months after the Recovery Act was signed into law on February 17. Full release
