WASHINGTON – Americans in seven states will soon find themselves living in upgraded apartments equipped to meet their physical needs thanks to more than $22.2 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. ROCHESTER, NY – At least 100 homes in Rochester will become healthier places to raise children due to $1,606,710 awarded today by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. HUD’s grant is designed to help Rochester to identify and clean up potentially dangerous lead-based paint hazards in older privately owned low-income housing. The funding is part of nearly $150 million awarded nationwide and a total of $15.6 million in New York State this year. Full release

WASHINGTON – As more families displaced by the wildfires in Southern California look for transitional housing, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is expanding its list of available rental housing and strongly encouraging multifamily property owners and landlords to include their unoccupied housing units in HUD's National Housing Locator System (NHLS). Working with federal and private housing databases, HUD is providing a step-by-step process that allows property owners and landlords to easily input their rental housing information into the NHLS. HUD AND MIAMI-DADE COUNTY SETTLE LAWSUIT

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Miami-Dade County have reached an agreement to settle the lawsuit the County filed to block HUD from taking control of the Miami-Dade Housing Agency (MDHA). WASHINGTON – Disaster victims who have been forced from their homes will access critically needed housing information and assistance more quickly because of a unique agreement signed today between the American Red Cross and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Under the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two agencies, HUD will gain access to Red Cross shelters in the earliest stages of a presidentially declared disaster and can begin to respond to the housing needs of certain eligible HUD-assisted families, the elderly and other special need persons. Senate OKs $459 Billion Pentagon Budget
