Grant money to go toward educating former service members
1/24/2012
National Louis University recently awarded $749,599 in grant money from the Robert R. McCormick Foundation for Education to Employment Initiative, which is aimed to helping former service members and other underserved students.
The E2 Initiative is designed to increase the percentage of students in at-risk groups - including veterans, active duty members and Hispanics - who complete their higher education and are ready to start a career.
"National Louis is honored to receive funding from the McCormick Foundation for this important initiative," said Dr. Nivine Megahed, president of National Louis University. "For more than 125 years, National Louis has been dedicated to providing educational access to underserved populations, and we look forward to extending our online learning opportunities, career services and community involvement with the E2 Initiative."
Veterans benefits in education and employment remain a focal point of both the federal government and private organizations across the country. According to the Indianapolis Business Journal, for-profit colleges and universities could face curbs in aid as the result of a new veterans bill.
