New Jersey lawmakers introduce vet bills

New Jersey lawmakers are doing their part to support
veterans benefits by aiming to place unemployed former service members into job openings to curb the state's unemployment rate.
According to the Burlington County Times, two lawmakers in Burlington County, New Jersey, are making it their duty to provide ample opportunities for veterans in the business and academic worlds. New Assemblyman Troy Singleton, a Palmyra Democrat, has introduced several new bills to further the initiative.
"This economy has been hard on everyone, but particularly our veterans, many of whom have come back from Iraq and Afghanistan to find a very different employment climate from when they left," Singleton told the news source. "There's no way to ever truly repay the debt of gratitude we owe them, so the least we can do is make their transition to civilian life as easy as possible by broadening their access to employment and higher education opportunities."
When it comes to insurance benefits for former service members, Paralyzed Veterans of America recently issued a report stating the new life insurance options available to veterans. Eligible veterans under the Veterans Group Life Insurance program may have the opportunity to increase their coverage amount, under the recent changes.
