VA to detail health benefits in new, personalized booklets
2/22/2012
Veterans who feel confused about
veterans benefits will be getting some help soon. The Department of Veterans Affairs announced February 22 that it will be sending out personalized booklets detailing veterans' healthcare benefits and other information.
The booklets, which started going out in February, will be delivered to all 8.5 million veterans enrolled in the VA health system by 2013. The guides will list benefits specific to each veteran's eligibility, according to VA.
“VA is committed to providing our nation’s veterans with consistent, clear information about the services available to them,” Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki said in a statement.
The booklets will also contain information on making appointments at VA clinics, local VA contact info and details about necessary co-pays, if applicable. VA will update the handbooks for each veteran as his or her eligibility changes, the agency said.
Veterans in the Billings, Montana, area will soon be able to take advantage of a new medical center, according to local reports. The Billings Gazette recently detailed plans for the center's new same-day surgery center, audiology department, and physical and occupational therapy services. Officials expect its completion sometime in 2014.
